A short page, because this site uses almost none.

Most websites open with a banner asking permission to track you. This one does not, and this page
explains why.
What we do not use
There are no analytics cookies on this site, no advertising cookies, and no cookies set by anybody
other than us unless you play a video, below. We do not use Google Analytics,
advertising pixels, or any service that follows you from here to another website. The typefaces are
sent by Google Fonts, which sets no cookies.
What we do use
One cookie, set only when you sign in or add something to a basket. It remembers that it is you for
the duration of that visit. It contains a random identifier and nothing else — no name, no email
address, nothing that could be read by anybody who obtained it.
Videos
The films on this site come from YouTube or Vimeo, and they stay switched off until you ask for one.
Until you press play you see a still picture sent from our own server, and neither service knows you
are here. Pressing play loads that one film from them, and from then on they may set cookies of
their own, as their own policies describe. Not pressing play is the whole of the choice, which is
why there is no banner asking you about it.
Checking forms
The forms are checked by Cloudflare Turnstile to keep automated spam out. It sets no advertising or
tracking cookies; it may keep a short-lived note in your browser that the check has been passed.
How we count visitors without cookies
We record each page view with a code made from your network address and your browser, mixed with a
secret that changes every day. The result cannot be reversed to identify you, and the same visitor
produces a different code tomorrow. It tells us how many people read a page. It cannot tell us who.
Turning cookies off
You can block cookies in your browser's settings. Everything on this site will still work except
signing in and the basket, which need one in order to function at all.
