From Leamington Spa to Coventry University: the Commute, Step by Step
28 September 2026 by Sureway Property

Living in Leamington and studying at Coventry University: the train, the walk, the bus and what it costs, with where every figure comes from.
Plenty of Coventry University students live in Leamington Spa — some because their friends are at Warwick, some because they would rather come home to a town than a city centre. If you are thinking about it, this is the commute as it really is, with where each figure comes from.
From the front door to Leamington Spa station
Both Moss House and Moss Yard are about 500m from Leamington Spa station — a few minutes on foot.
The train to Coventry
Trains from Leamington Spa to Coventry take about 14 minutes, and the fastest do it in 11. There are around 48 a day, so roughly two an hour through the day, and the last one back from Coventry usually leaves at about 10.40pm (Trainline). Fares are frozen until March 2027 (National Rail).
Coventry station to the campus
Coventry University's campus is around Priory Street, CV1 5FB, in the city centre. The university puts the walk from Coventry station at 15 to 20 minutes, and warns of diversions while building work is going on (Coventry University).
Door to door
Put together, that is about three quarters of an hour from your room to the campus. It is a real commute — shorter than plenty of people's journey across a big city, longer than a walk from a block across the road.
What it costs
A 16–25 Railcard is £35 a year and takes a third off most fares, peak times included. For every day of the week, compare it with a season ticket — we have not printed a price for one, because we could not find it published, so ask at the station or check National Rail.
If you would rather take the bus
The X18 runs between Coventry and Leamington about every half hour on weekdays, stopping on the Parade and opposite the railway station. It takes around an hour (bustimes.org), so it is the fallback rather than the plan.
Is it for you?
If you want to be out of bed fifteen minutes before a nine o'clock, live in Coventry. If you want Leamington — its parks, its independent places to eat, a quieter street and friends at Warwick — the train makes it work. What living here looks like for Coventry University students, and what the rooms cost.
